ASTM steel pipe categorized by different original materials

ASTM steel pipe, one of the seamless steel pipe, named by American Society for Testing and Materials, would be categorized by original materials. Thus, there are so many ASTM grades for this kind of steel tubes.

Basically, alloy, stainless steel and carbon would be the main materials leading to the different grades for it. And this would finally decides the steel pipe’s properties, hardness, resistance to corrosion, pitting, heat treating processes and others. Here are some common grades for it.

ASTM A106: It covers carbon steel pipe, so it can be used widely among high-temperature service.

ASTM A335: This kind of type covers seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe, which is used  for high-temperature service.

ASTM A333: It covers wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures.

ASTM A312: This specification would be functioned for seamless, straight-seam welded, and cold worked welded austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service.
