As per government data, China's average daily crude steel output fell in July, providing some respite to overseas rivals angered by a torrent of cheap steel from Chinese mills in the past year.
It is expected that the output may lower further in the coming months as more mills shut in a sector undergoing a important restructuring in two decades.
Daily steel output averaged 2.15 million tonnes last month after a surprise increase to an all-time high of 2.32 million tonnes in June, according to Reuters.
China's steel production increased 2.6 percent year on year to 66.81 million tons, bringing output 0.5 percent to 466.52 million tons in the first seven months.
