Different API 5L type would have special pipe forming and heat treatment

We are familiar API 5L steel pipe from seamless steel pipe to welded type. However, with the change of type of pipe even with the same grade, we shall find that there is difference for starting material, pipe forming and pipe heat treatment.

Here is the list for detailed distinction of it. Generally speaking, we shall provide our customers with grade PSL1 and PSL2 among API 5L Steel Pipe.

From the comparison, we can figure out that there are three types of starting material which are thermomechanical-rolled strip, hot-rolled strip, and thermomechanical-rolled strip or plate. Thus, we can get the pipe forming of cold type.
