Differences of PLS1 and PLS2

Update:2017-03-21   View(s):2024   Keywords :API 5L steel pipe,welded pipe,ssaw steel pipe
API 5L steel pipe generally refers to the implementation standard of line pipe, line pipe is used to extract oil, gas, water and others and transport to the oil and gas pipeline industry enterprises. It includes seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe two categories, our current commonly used in oil pipeline are SAWH steel pipe, LSAW steel pipe, ERW steel pipe, seamless steel pipe is usually chosen when the pipe diameter is less than 152mm.
There are many kinds of steel grade for raw materials in API 5L standard: GR.B, X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X70, X80, etc. Different steel grade, different requirements for raw materials and production, and the carbon equivalent between different steel grades are strictly controlled.
As far as API 5L is concerned, everyone knows, there are PSL1 and PSL2 two standards, although only one word, but the two standard content is very different.
1, PSL is short for the product specification levels. Product specification level pipeline is divided into PSL1 and PSL2, it can be said the quality level is divided into PSL1 and PSL2. PSL2 is higher than PSL1, these two specification levels not only have different testing requirements, and the chemical composition, mechanical properties requirements are different, so when ordering according to API 5L, terms of the contract in addition to the usual indicators of the size and grade, must also indicate the product specification level, ie PSL1 or PSL2. PSL2 in chemical composition, tensile properties, the impact energy, non-destructive testing and other indicators are more stringent than PSL1.
2, PSL1 do not require impact test.
For PSL2 all steel grades except the X80, the full-size 0 Akv average: Portrait ≥ 41J, transverse ≥27J. For X80 steel grade, full-size 0 Akv average: Portrait ≥101J, transverse ≥68J.
3, the pipeline should be supported by the hydrostatic test one by one, but the standard does not specify allowing non-destructive to replace hydrostatic test, which is also a big difference between the API standards and our standards. PSL1 does not require non-destructive testing, PSL2 should be supported by non-destructive testing one by one.
