United States domestic raw steel production advanced by 2.7% year-on-year to 1,703,000 net tons in the week ended July 23, while the capability utilization rate was 72.8 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to AISI, raw steel production was 1,750,000 net tons in the week ended July 23, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 73.2 percent.
Production for the week ended July 23, 2016 is down 2.5 percent from the previous week ending July 16, 2016 when production was 1,746,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.7 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through July 23, 2016 was 50,903,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.6 percent. That is down 0.8 percent from the 51,323,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.3 percent.
